Denominational Doctrine:
"We take
the position that a Christian's sins do not damn his soul. The
way a Christian lives, what he says, his character, his
conduct, or his attitude toward other people have nothing
whatever to do with the salvation of his soul All the prayers
a man may pray, all the Bibles he may read, all the churches
he may belong to, all the services he may attend, all the
sermons he may practice, all the debts he may pay, all the
ordinances he may observe, all the laws he may keep, all the
benevolent acts he may perform will not make his soul one whit
safer and all the sins he may commit from idolatry to murder
will not mi. his soul in any more danger The way a man lives
has nothing whatever to do with the salvation of his soul The
way I live has nothing whatsoever to do with the salvation of
my soul." (Do A Christian's Sins Damn His Soul?, Sam Morris,
First Baptist Church, Stamford, Texas)
"They
whom God hath accepted in His Beloved, effectually called and
sanctified by his Spirit, can neither totally nor finally fall
away from the state of grace: but shall certainly persevere
therein to the end, and be eternally saved." (Westminster
Confession of Faith, Presbyterian Church)
Bible Doctrine:
"Do you
not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of
God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters,
nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves,
nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners
will inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Cor. 6:9-10)
"Now the
works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery,
hatred, contentious, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish
ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness,
revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just
as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such
things will not inherit the kingdom of God." (Gal. 5:19-21)
"For this
you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous
man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of
Christ and God." (Eph. 5:5
"You have
become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified
by law; you have fallen from grace." (Gal. 5:4)
